KEW GARDEN HILLS (VINnews) — The Kew Garden Hills community of Queens was inconvenienced on Wednesday, after a construction crew accidentally struck high-pressure gas main, causing evacuations across the area.

The incident occurred on Main St and 68th Drive on Wednesday afternoon.
There were no injuries reported due to the rupture, but authorities evacuated local stores and businesses as a precaution.
The local Jewish schools in the area were evacuated as well, while Con Edison works to shut off the main gas line.
Heavy traffic is expected between Jewel Avenue and Melbourne Avenue in Queens while the situation is ongoing.
