Arieh Perecowicz has been fined more than $1,400 for his dash decor, which includes family photos, religious items, ribbons and a Canadian flag.
He fought the city tickets for years, finally losing his legal battle last month in municipal court, where a judge ruled the taxi bylaw does not infringe on Perecowicz’s rights.
The city also notified Perecowicz that his fines have been revoked.
Perecowicz is declaring victory, and indicated he’ll drop any further legal action.

Mazel Tov!! Patience pays off!!
Good job
With an increase in violence AGAINST Jews & Jewish-owned property, THIS is what Canadian officials are busy with? Morons.
This is what the Halacha says: Adar is a month of good mazal for Jews, to the point that if they have a trial with a goy, it should be settled on Adar.
Yasher Koach!
Great news for jewish people, but if you get into a cab and there is a giant cross or muslim star and other christian/muslim paraphernalia hanging in the cab, DO NOT COMPLAIN
It’s outrageous that this would be an issue at all. The Quebec legislature has a GIANT Xfix hanging over its speaker’s chair….and here they were trying to force someone to remove a religious object from his own private property? That it went so far in the first place is proof that we are truly in Golus.
Observation: Took them long enough, but the anti-Semitic Montreal city authorities finally relented. The self-hating moderns on this website who sided with those authorities on this non-issue are still fuming. Gut Shabbos!
the main reason they (the City) dropped the matter is the adverse publicity the Province was getting in the U.S. press. Nothing like embarrassing Quebec in the American press to get their attention. The moment it gets picked up in the U.S. (eg New York Times or whatever) and they get calls from the U.S.
They don’t care about being embarrassed in ROC but in the American press…
That is a different story.
