New York – An off-color remark about President Barack Obama on “Morning Joe” has led to the suspension of politician analyst Mark Halperin.

“I thought he was a d….yesterday,” Halperin said Thursday during a discussion about Obama’s news conference on Wednesday.
Halperin prefaced his remark by asking, “Are we on the seven-second delay?” It was a reference to a brief delay in a TV show transmission that allows a producer to silence an offending remark. MSNBC said the show was on a delay, but a producer pushed a wrong button and the remark went over the air.
MSNBC said Halperin, who is an editor at Time magazine and an NBC News contributor, is suspended indefinitely. Both the network and Halperin apologized to the president, and Halperin said in a statement he believed the network’s actions against him were appropriate.
What did he say ??
If he would’ve done the same thing with Bush, he would’ve gotten a promotion.
I’m not familiar with the show or the person who made the comment. But i thought his apology was a class-act. We all make mistakes. Owning up to them and taking responsibility is what shows character.
A suspension is appropriate as a symbolic act. I do hope he will on the air soon and his career is not hurt by this.
i wonder if anyone was ever fired for an offensive remark against Bush. (unless, of course, they said they liked Bush, that might get you fired.)
and i also thought the president was a d! ( yesterday.
He used a slang word for the male sexual organ. He may have said it in a crude way, but he told the truth. What’s wrong with that? What’s wrong with telling the truth?
I agree with what Mark said. I love it that liberals are finally waking up to see that Obama is rubbish. Charlie Hall wake up before its to late.
freedom of speech
maybe fox is hiring….
i’m sure they’ll accept him with open arms
I agree with a suspension. Such offensive remark to the whole US population, us as a nation were taken for a fool.
The use of the outrages limiting adjective ‘yesterday’ is tottally uncalled for and unnecessary.
Whatever he said, without including the word ‘yesterday’ makes perfect sense.
Knowing what he knows today, he will hopefully handle the Mr. Prez unique qualities at their place and not make such mistakes again.
Nobody ever got fired for calling Cheney by this name. Double standard?
Some of these comments are so ignorant.
1. He was not suspended for speaking about Obama. He was suspended for using one of the so-called “dirty words” that you are not allowed to broadcast at hours where children may be watching. It is considered a profane term and clearly Halperin made a conscious decision to use the word. Sometimes it can be forgiven when a word slips out by accident… it happens. But clearly he made a choice to use vulgar language and MSNBC is right to suspend him for it.
Although I agree with what he said, he is in the media and should know that he must keep his comments to himself.
This just goes to show you the real intellectual level of political commentators…
How can anybody who needs to resort to vulgar language in order to get their message across be considered an intellectual?
Wouldn’t it be enough to say that Obama is a dunce? an imbecile? and so on and so forth.
To PmoinFl: I disagree totally with you. He specifically asked if they were on a 7-second delay, was assured they were, & THEN he chose to state his personal opinion. While the word he used may have been vulgar, nevertheless he had a right to state his views. The technician who hit the wrong button should’ve been fired for incompetence , not him.
