The citizen, Larry Angel, of Mullica, withdrew the complaint Tuesday morning after Corzine apologized Monday afternoon for not wearing his seat belt in the accident.
Angel withdrew his complaint just as a judge was to decide whether to approve the charge against the governor.
“The governor’s statements of taking responsibility swayed him,” said Roseanne Lugg, the Galloway court administrator. “That was all Mr. Angel was after.” [wnbc]
The one thing you’re all forgetting, including the Governor, is that when you get a seat belt ticket, the Police Officer will swear he saw you. Here, the Governor can claim to have been in the back seat where you do not need a seat belt.
He was not summonsed, so he can plead “not-guilty”.
I guess it goes to show that those who write the laws and are supposed to enforce them are really above the law itself, just like the cops who double park, and talk on their cell phones while driving
Hmm…the last time i tried to be apologetic to a judge i still had to pay my ticket. Why should the governor be judge superior to ordinary citizens.
why does it have to be a citizen that complained about him not wearing a seat belt. it should be the state complaining and filing. the law of not wearing a seat belt is a state law not a citizens law.
