Tolentino Velasquez, 32, told The Journal News that it was Perez’s death April 29 that prompted him to come forward and tell his story to Bedford detectives probing the Perez homicide.

Velasquez maintains that one afternoon in June 2005, when he was drunk, he was driven to Byram Lake Road in Bedford by a lone Mount Kisco police officer and left there.

“When he took me there, I didn’t know where I was,” Velasquez said last week. “What I thought was that he was going to put me in more trouble, that he was going to say I was doing something more serious and arrest me for it. But he left me there. …
“I already told the police in Bedford. They told me if I was lying I would go to jail. I told them it was the truth.” [journalnews]
