Washington, DC – Condoleezza Rice reportedly quashed an Israeli proposal in 2005 for Jonathan Pollard to be freed in exchange for a jailed Palestinian militia leader.

On the eve of the Gaza withdrawal, then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon put together a plan whereby Israel would free Marwan Barghouti, a Fatah leader jailed for terrorist attacks but perceived as a potential counterweight to the ascendancy of Hamas, if the United States would in turn release Pollard.
Israel's ambassador to Washington at the time, Danny Ayalon, broached the top-secret proposal to the U.S. secretary of state but she rejected it outright. "Pollard's release is out of the question," she told Ayalon. "Danny, I'd advise you not to pursue this any further. Pollard betrayed his country and that issue is taboo in Washington."
U.S. officials had no immediate comment on the report, which appeared consistent with the stated position of successive administrations in Washington that Pollard, a former Navy analyst who passed reams of classified information to Israel, should serve out his life prison sentence.
Israeli political sources confirmed that the Sharon government did indeed put together a prisoner-swap proposal at the time. [JTA]

Jonothan Pollard is in jail today and is unfortunately going to be there for awhile longer, for one reason. That is because the jewish politicians should not consider doing what Pollard did. It is dual loyalty issue. That is the reason why Joseph Leiberman is anti Pollard. Otherwise he would not be able to run for president

Nobody is interested about how you feel about honorable candi rice, keep it for yourself. Btw if all those brilliant international diplomats that you mention “did” accomplish in the war in the middle east, then why isn’t there peace yet??? After so many years of violence why hasn’t those brilliant international diplomats able to accomplish something? We are still at war???????? But the real answer to your question is אין שלום אמר ה’ לרשעים period. Moshiach will be the one who is going to accomplish peace in the Middle East nobody else and again nobody else. I think that 60 years of history with several almost opportunity’s is enough to prove it to you.
Condi rice is a disaster and then some.
Think of all her recent predecessors , brilliant international diplomats Colin Powell, Madeleign Albright, Christopher, Eagleburger, Baker, Shultz… She is not in their league, not by a longshot. She is a joke, just like her clown of a boss who had no business in the White House. She has made a mockery of US foreign policy, foreign relations and has accomplished nothing in the war torn middle east.

This is why we need to remember that hashem runs the world and all our tefilos should be directed to hashem. The fact that she squashed the release deal (she is supposed to be on the right team) should make us realize that only hashem can cause his release. Lets daven for all yidden who are locked up at this time. (Including us as we are locked in galus).
Candi Rice is not a disaster, we all appreciate all the good thinks that she has done. And don’t forget she is not secretary of state of Israel she is secretary of the United States of America.

As a woman, I find her way too soft in dealingwith just about anything. She’s obviously brilliant with no brains. As the second most powerful person in the country she is a huge disappointment.
Condi Rice is a disaster. What good has she accomplished? Especially in the middle east? It doesnt matter what side politically…she should have stayed a college chancellor, she is worthless as our liason to the world.
