Moscow, Russia – Jewish Businessman Killed

Moscow, Russia – A Jewish businessmen was killed in northern Moscow.

A representative of the Moscow prosecutor's office said that Yuri Naumenko, 40, was returning to his apartment with his wife at half past midnight. An unidentified gunman shot Naumenko outside his apartment door, killing him instantly. The prosecutor suggested the killing could be connected to Naumenko's business activity.

Yuri Naumenko ran a real estate development business and the Moscow police officer heading the investigation said, on condition of anonymity, that Naumenko had a stake in a privately owned company called Moscow City Property Department. According to the source, Naumenko left the company in May allegedly because of a conflict with his partners. The same source suggested that the company might be controlled by members of a security service. [jta]
