Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY – Cops to Testify Against 90th Precinct Detective

Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY – Two Brooklyn cops have been subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury about an allegedly corrupt detective.

Federal agents have ordered two of Luis Batista's colleagues to disclose what they know about the 90th Precinct detective, who is under investigation for possibly tipping off drug dealers about police investigations.
Detectives in the precinct will likely also be caught up in the snare and forced to appear before a grand jury.

Batista has been the subject of a grand jury investigation, and has been placed on modified duty.
According to court documents, Batista, a former narcotics officer, is friends with an drug dealer Virgilio Hiciano, who was indicted for selling crack and has since fled the country.
Batista grew up in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn with the drug dealer and maintained a relationship with him despite their different career paths. [NY Post]
