Among the most serious charges noted in a report by the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union released Thursday was that Agriprocessors took inadequate protections against mad cow disease.

Agriprocessors, which makes products for brands including Aaron’s Best and Rubashkin’s, had been cited by federal investigators in late 2004 of engaging in acts of inhumane slaughter.

The union, which represents 250,000 food processing employees and bills itself as “a leading voice on industry issues,” obtained U.S. Department of Agriculture records that showed food safety inspectors found 250 instances of noncompliance from Jan. 1, 2006 to Jan. 24, 2007 due to issues such as rodents and fecal contaminations. Rubashkin is not unionized and pushed out attempts to unionize. That aside, if they were unionized how would that prevent mad cow disease? Secondly, mad cow disease is monitered by the federal governmanr. Third, It is caused by something in feed. US animals are not fed products that can cause MCD. Forth, as of MAY 2007, ONLY 14 CASES OF of MCD HAVE BEED IDENTIFIED IN NORTH AMERICA. (11 in Canada and 3 in the US)
In Short, the union, which is seeking to gain a foot in the door at Rubashkin, seeking to creat a public panic, is full of cow $#!&.
That also means Shmarya (FM) probably has a full page story about it. Facts, of course, being irrelevant.

Yup! Just checked. He got the story from the Forward, who got it from the union, (What more reliable source can you think of?) who claims to have documents via FOIA, that there were violations. That may be true, paper work is also violations. When you hear on the news, XYZ airlanes were cited 400 times in 2006. Understand that those do not necessarily mean immediate life threatening issues. If the FAA continues to let them fly, chances are they aren’t.

A lid not properly placed on a garbage can is a violation. It doesn’t mean that you’re going to get MCD from eating their steaks. On a side note, I have personally taken upon myself (bli neder) that every time I read an article about Peta attacking a Jewish practice. I will have a steak. If I read it twice in a day. I will have a second steak later in the week. that is my way personally protesting these loonies.

funny Mad Cow is only found in older animals, while due to sirchas, we yidden usually shecht only younger animals, so the mad cow issue is BS. as for the rodents thank Hashem for that, rodents and fecal matter will always be on a farm or where ever livestock are, that is part of nature.

How can anyone give any credence to something these unions say? This union is trying to collect dues from the workers and Rubashkin isn’t letting them.
As a former union member, let me say that the union leaders will not hesitate to lie or commit fraud in order to pocket more money from more workers.
