Upstate NY – So much for the endless summer.
After averaging 8 degrees above normal all month, temperatures are expected to plunge Sunday night and early Monday.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday. That means the thermometer is expected to drop below freezing for several hours.
There’s a frost advisory for the same period for southern Westchester and Long Island. Temperatures there are expected to fall into the lower to mid 30s.
The weather agency is advising precautions to protect outdoor plants that are sensitive to the cold. [1010wins]
