Three men in a Toyota Conquest stopped next to the victim on Morkel Street. One of them pulled out a firearm and shot the man in the arm. The bullet went through his arm and into his abdomen and he died on the scene.
The man's bag containing his tallis was found abandoned 200m from the scene.

Rabbi Rodal from Chabad Norwood said: "We are shocked, saddened and outraged by the crime levels in this country and how life is worth so little."
He said the thousands of Jewish men who walk to synagogues on Friday nights and Saturdays carry a tallis, or prayer shawl, in a bag which contains no valuables. "Jewish people do not carry any valuables or money on Fridays and Saturdays. We are not allowed to. But this crime should make us reflect on where our society is headed." [TheStar]
