Scammers are trying to use the State Office of Homeland Security in a scam that invites potential victims to collect money in exchange for personal identification.

OHS emphasized that the agency does not collect personal information from individuals, such as name, home address, date of birth, Social Security number of driver's license number.
People should never disclose personal information to someone who contacts them by telephone or the internet, said the director of the Consumer Protection Board.

Consumers who are aware of a scam can report it by completing a form on the website. Or, they can call the CPB's toll free hotline at 1-800-697-1220. [NW50]
