“Racism and anti-Semitism hurt all of us. The racists are sending us a message of hate, and we are sending them a message of unity,” said Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brookyn) as he inaugurated the Jewish Black Alliance at a Jewish social center in Borough Park.

A noose at a black professor’s Columbia University office last fall launched a spate of hateful symbols around New York, including a swastika spray-painted on a Flatbush synagogue last week.

Hikind rounded up more than two dozen pols, local rabbis and others to launch the group, which hopes to set up community forums and lessons on tolerance.

The black people in England are islanders not US blacks. The next a time a black yells “heil hilter” at me (as stupid as it is, it’s happened) I’ll tell him about Hikind’s organization. I’m sure he’ll be impressed.

African Americans and Jews are natural allies; we have both been slaves, and we have both been the victims of the same racists. Rabbis marched with Dr. King, and he was a strong supporter of Israel and of Jews in the former Soveit Union. May this effort bear much fruit!

I was at the event yesterday and was very impressed by the great relationship Dov Hikind and Joe Lazar have with the African American community. They are both walking Kiddush Hashem’s

Baruch Hashem! You are correct. May Hikind be Blessed and may African Americans and Jews stand together in the face of racism and anti-semitism. We are NOT one another’s enemies.

As a frum new Yorker I can tell you that I believe that 85% or more of the Afro-American community is not racist. They are not among our biggest problems. Surprisingly, I also heard from a Chasidishe boy visiting from London and he related the same, they live in fear of Arabs and Polish workers that get drunk and beat them up. They often are saved by Black people over there.
