Bloomberg's original plan, introduced in April, would charge cars $8 to drive into Manhattan below 86th St. or $4 if they move within that zone. It would cut traffic an estimated 6.7% and raise $420 million for mass transit.

One of the commissions calternatives are, $4 tolls on the Queensboro, Williamsburg, Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges, which would raise $431 million for mass transit and cut traffic 5.6%.

The 17-member commission must agree on a plan by Jan. 31, and the plan must also win approval from the City Council and Albany. [nydailynews]

If they institute a toll, then we will be in jail. You won’t be able to leave Brooklyn & Queens ( or Long Island) without paying a $4.00
    exit fee & a $4.00 entrance fee.
No “free”dom to travel. Plus, for most people it will be anther & $8.00 for the PA Bridges. That is a total of $16.00 (or $17.00 to Lakewood etc.) before you start the engine.
Then again, if you don’t start the engine it won’t cost you the tolls…ha..ha.
