The Senator recognized and honored the volunteer EMS organization Hatzolah and the volunteer safety patrol organization Shomrim.
Senator Adams said, It is my great pleasure to pay homage to two superlative volunteer groups, Hatzolah and Shomrim. For more than 35 years, Hatzolah volunteers have saved lives by making emergency medical calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, leaving their regular jobs or postponing family obligations to tend to those in medical crisis, he said.
Shomrim a volunteer civilian safety patrols are true stewards of their community, serving as vigilant eyes and ears for the residents and working in conjunction with NYPD to promote a secure neighborhood environment, the senator said.
Also speaking were NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind and NYC Comptroller, Bill Thopson.
Awards were presented to the coordinators of Williamsburg Shomrim and for the coordinators of Williamsburg Hatzolah.
Additionally, was awarded Abe Friedman who works with the NYPD on behalf the Jewish community at large, and he is also Senator Adam's chief adviser. [Vin News]
I have known Mr. Abe Friedman for the past 5 years and he is a real MENSCH!! The Jewish community should be proud to have him as a liason of the NYPD and NYSP. He has come to the aid of many people 24/7, 365 days. Senator Eric Adams is lucky to have Abe on his staff. Congratulations again my friend!!

You are wrong
Although there is no organization since WWII like hatzolah from my point of view (before that I don’t know) if you are going to honor organizations, yes! you honor all of them! the bottom line, no matter which direction or way you want to put it, they are all tzadikim giving away from their own time to help a fellow yid in
need according to that particular situation not like you & me sitting on computer & chatting, although we hope & pray that we never need each of those services we must face reality & “all pi derech ha’teve” we will need it least once in our life time.
Good shabbos
Sam
id like to see elected officials in other neighborhoods follow this lead.
so many of the volunteers do this with a full heart and deserve a yasher koach!

“How about Chaveirim?? Why weren’t they honored?
Because the day they’ll honor Chaveirim, you’ll ask why they don’t honor Misaskim or Mikimi or RCCS or Chai Lifeline or Chesed or the 1000 other orginizations out there.
Its about time we recognize the dedication of Abe Friedman.
People don’t know it, but from personal experience the man is ready for our community 24/7
Thanks for all you do, Abe.
About time they put us in a good light.
How about Chaveirim?? Why weren’t they honored?
