The Buildings Department says the campaign will include daily penalties for elevator violations and publicly shaming landlords of buildings with the most problems.
Buildings Commissioner Patricia Lancaster says in a statement that the lack of access to working elevators in buildings presents “a major safety risk that those living in elevator buildings should not have to face.”
The worst buildings are scattered throughout Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx. They are listed on the Buildings Department Web site. [AP]
I hope for Boro Park as well…………
“The wors are scattered in Bklyn, queens, manhattan…..
I think the article mentioned the entire NYC. Duh!!
No kidding….
I live in a building where the elevator is broken just about every other day and 311 does nothing about it.
311 is a waste of time and sends inspectors about 2 weeks after your first call.
well said anon
And the worst landlord of them all is no other than the City itself. Put your feet at your mouth!!
