Three Gates Ave. intersections at Nostrand, Marcy and Bedford Aves, that were slated to honor the late activist before the idea was rejected by the City Council have been renamed Sonny Abubadika Carson Ave. by activists who placed makeshift decals over the street signs.

Queens Councilman Tony Avella, one of only a handful of elected officials to support the idea to honor Carson said, "I can understand the community's frustration because the process was not fair," Avella said.
"This points to a level of frustration that city leaders fail to take into account. There are many groups who feel like they aren't being listened to." [nydailynews]
