John O'Neill, 38, a 10-year veteran pleaded guilty to a charge of tampering with a public record, and part of his plea, is to forfeited his post.
The former officer lied on a police report by saying a motorist had injuries on his face at an accident scene at Route 287 in Parsippany on Sept. 30, 2006.
O'Neill admitted he was covering up using force on the man so he could avoid a review of the incident. [AP]
