I would hope that the precious commentor would have checked their facts correctly. As far as i understand, Chabad owned the Torah, not the Hebrew Academy. Hebrew Academy is a great institution and should certaily be supported, however there was a fire at Chabad and they need to be supported, and FYI Hebrew Academy is helping them.

The building that Rabbi Katz used on Shabbos is the Miami Beach Women’s Club, a historical property owned by the Dade County Heritage Trust (Wolfsonian).

The building was rented by the Hebrew Academy for use as a Beis Midrash, shul and event space. Rabbi Katz’s Chabad used the space on Shabbos.

To the best of my knowledge, the Hebrew Academy owned the Torahs, Aron, furnishings and most of the seforim.

The Hebrew Academy is an Orthodox day school that provides a free education to hundreds of Jewish children of refugees from all over the world in addition to providing the highest amount of tuition aid to Jewish families of any Orthodox school in South FL.

I am sure that Rabbi Katz has suffered financial losses from this tragic fire, but I imagine that the Hebrew Academy has suffered substantially.

I do not work for the Academy and do not even have children in the school. I am just a Miami Beach neighbor and admirer of the Hebrew Academy and its programs.

If anyone wants to send donations to help the Hebrew Academy, here is the address:
