You’ve seen the TV footage of food riots in parts of the developing world. Yes, they’re a long way away from the U.S. But most foodstuffs operate in a global market. When the cost of wheat soars in Asia, it will do the same here.

Reality: Food prices are already rising here much faster than the returns you are likely to get from keeping your money in a bank or money-market fund. And there are very good reasons to believe prices on the shelves are about to start rising a lot faster.

We used to feed the world. Truman’s operation breadbasket during the cold war. Our farmers produced enough food to feed the US, Russia, and China.
Now we can’t feed ourselves because we let environmentalists starve people to save ?. Maybe we are genovim, maybe we do indulge ourselves more than necessary. On the other hand this is not a crisis this is a fiasco. We pay farmers to let the land lie unused so that our “friends” can bleed us dry. Neither of these candidates have the guts to stand up to special interest groups that fund them. If not now when, Hashem yirachem.
