Senior UN officials were outraged Tuesday evening as they confirmed Hamas has appropriated seven tons of weaponry and ammunition stored in UN warehouses in Gaza and intended to be destroyed by sappers.

The officials demanded the ordnance stockpile be returned immediately.

With the conclusion of Operation Cast Lead, Hamas and UN personnel amassed weapons and explosives – mainly unexploded tank shells – and moved them to a special warehouse guarded by Hamas security troops.

UNRWA representatives examined the weaponry, and a delegation of UN-employed experts was due to arrive in Gaza in order to carry out a controlled detonation of the explosives. Over the course of the past two days, however, it was discovered that the weaponry had gone missing. The Hamas security officials charged with guarding the storage facility had also vanished.

Hamas’ motive to appropriate the ordnance is unclear, although most estimate that the group believes the unexploded shells can be reused. Hamas has yet to officially comment on the allegations, though sources within the organization said it was highly likely that members of the military wing sought to reuse the weaponry.

Just great – I am sure the weapons will be returned, out of a rocket launcher that is. If Chas v’shalom lives are lost because if this the UN should be held accountable. They probably either sold them to the arabs or simply left the door open.

Does the UN really hire Arabs 2 watch weapon??? Doesn’t make sense   all. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ll hear that it was deliberately handed over 2 them. The UN is a joke over there, if U recall, they were shooting from a UN school as well during the war. Give me a brake!

The UN in Gaza is nothing but a Hamas outpost. We should not be surprised that this happened, only that it did not happen sooner. The UN is no friend of America, israel or peace in general. They are a criminal enterprise – look at all the $$$ that has flown to rebels and murderes under the guise of humanitarian aid.

While the U.N. is definitely responsible, apparently so is the IDF which allowed 7 tons of unexploded ordinance to remain in Gaza for easy pickup by their known enemy Hamas.

“and moved them to a special warehouse guarded by Hamas security troops.”

Right. I think the UN should hold an emergency meeting to require members to submit to an IQ test immediately. All they need are large shoes and a red noses and I would actually pay to watch them.

We had better learn to make better ordinance, so none goes unexploded.

I think #14 said it best. Had they exploded as it was supposed to, none of this would have happened.

The world media should be screaming “How can this happen?” “Just how inept and useless is the UN?” But, no. It’s Hamas murderers that only want to kill jews and wipe out Israel so, it’s OK.
