I think everyone is overeacting. Swine flu is a strain of dlu like any other. It is not life threatening under normal circustances. Anything to keep our minds off the economy.

So, now that we have to prepare for Shevous (by studying the Torah) the Yatzer Hora is trying to make it difficult for us.

Makas Devver, I assume that the flu pandemic of 1918 was also not life threatening and that people were overeacting. This is a scary time and its only the beginning wait until the fall ehen the flu really peaks. Hashem Yirochem.

You are allowed to be mechalel shabbos to save a Jewish life, closing a school for a few days is definitely within the realms of pikuach nefesh.

My son is a 1st grader in Tiferes Yisroel, my daughter attends PPY and was instructed to stay home because she has a sibling who attends YTY..
Hopefully this wont turn into a real pandemic.

The rebono shel olim has his ways,,,,,,aguda was so worried that the schools and yeshivas will be closed as as a result of asemblywomans markeys bill against child molestors and their protectors……
what does hashem do………………..closes them with a flue

the mesaage hashem is giving the rabbonin AND THE AGUDA …………. he is in charge

lets rally behind the markey bill

It seems that as the day goes by most of our yeshivas and girl’s schools will follow suit as our community is very different than the public school world. Our kids have siblings in other schools and yeshivas the parents go to one shul and the kids at times will go to another shul we intermingle in our whole community.

I have to say that this swine flu outbreak just exposed how weak and unresponsive the health offices/nurses are. The only way to get somewhere in containing this outbreak would be to close “all” schools private and public. This worked in mexico ,but one thing is sure that shutting one school here another one there while sibling and parents continue to spread it is just inefective.

What a bout the loss of limud torah. Clearly, there exists no emergency situation that should cause massive lack of learning torah, certainly in the hours leading up to Matan TOrah. THis is nothing but immature reaction.

Guys do you think you know any better then the people ie. pediatricians and poskim that were asked what to do in the case of these schools just let the higher ups / more knowledgeables take care of it. your job is just to listen.

The same people knocking the yeshivos for being too nervous and closing for no reason would be the same ones knocking the yeshivos for not caring about our kids if they chose decided to stay open.
