Saudi Arabia – Al Qaeda has developed a new tactic that allows suicide bombers to breach even the tightest security.

Inside a Saudi palace, the scene was the bloody aftermath of an al Qaeda attack in August aimed at killing Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef, head of Saudi Arabia’s counter terrorism operations.
To get his bomb into this room, Abdullah Asieri, one of Saudi Arabia’s most wanted men, avoided detection by two sets of airport security including metal detectors and palace security. He spent 30 hours in the close company of the prince’s own secret service agents – all without anyone suspecting a thing.
How did he do it?
Taking a trick from the narcotics trade – which has long smuggled drugs in body cavities – Asieri had a pound of high explosives, plus a detonator inserted in his rectum.
This was a meticulously planned operation with al Qaeda once again producing something new: this time, the Trojan bomber.
The blast left the prince lightly wounded – a failure as an assassination, but as an exercise in defeating security, it was perfect.
The bomber persuaded the prince he wanted to leave al Qaeda, setting a trap.
Al Qaeda has an animated movie showing the meeting between the bomber and the prince. Asieri says more senior al Qaeda figures want to surrender and convinces the prince to talk to them on a cell phone.
In the conversation recorded by al Qaeda, you hear a beep in the middle of two identical phrases that are repeated by the bomber and his handler.
Explosives experts tell CBS News that beep was likely a text message activating the bomb concealed inside Asieri.
The Trojan bomber hands the phone to Prince Mohammed. He’s standing next to him, and 14 seconds later, he detonates.
“This is the nightmare scenario,” said Chris Yates, an aviation security consultant.
On a plane at altitude, the effects of such a bomb could be catastrophic. And there is no current security system that could stop it.
“Absolutely nothing other than to require people to strip naked at the airport,” said Yates.
And al Qaeda says it will share its new technique via the Internet very soon. There is nothing that can stop that either.
what about sniffing dogs- im sure they could detect it
After an hour with a pound of explosives in my rectum, I’d want to kill myself also.
have everyone drink ex-lax b4 boarding
(of course airliners will need more lavratories on board…)
Sometimes I feel like that shobbos nuchin chulent!
A few principles of security from someone with pretensions of doing it for a living:
1) There is no such thing as perfect security; it’s all about playing the odds
2) The best you can do is have your best guess at adequate countermeasures
3) You do this by increasing the exposure time of the bad guy and closing off enough routes to the target so that his chances drop to the point where he can’t achieve what he wants for a cost he can pay.
4) People are easy to scare. Things that are new and unusual scare them
5) When they are scared they exaggerate the new threat
6) When the exaggerate the threat they put inappropriate amounts of effort into countering it
7) That means they ignore more real ones
This is certainly a colorful method of assassination, but it’s not all that effective. The human body is a couple hundred pound bag of water. It can absorb a lot of shock as we see in this case.
Bottom line? It needs to be considered, but it’s not one of the greater threats and nothing to get too excited about.
I don’t see why a medal detector would not pick this up… (Are bombs made of liguid/plasic?)
What material is the actual bomb made from, doubt you can make a full bomb without at least some of the parts being detected.
And just stay on the lookout for people walking around which look like they have a broomstick up their…
We keep having to change our security measures to match whatever these nut cracks think of next. First no nail clippers. Then you have to remove your shoes. No liquids etc…
Im not bending over in the airport. How about instead of trying to remain safe…we kill the people who want to kill us!
Do we have to have metal detectors at grocery stores before we wake up? Drop notes telling all innocent people to leave and then “make” a large smoking dent somewhere in the middle east! (Leaving Israel alone of course)
This guy was a real. “Tuche” there is even a “remez” in his name. Look at the 1st 2 letters of his name.
You see we always knew that they don’t respect themselfs so why should anybody else?
Bottom line is this – we will never be able to prevent terrorist attacks. We can only make it harder for them. But if someone is willing to insert explosives in their rectums there is very little we can do about it absent sniffing dogs. A bear can smell through anything. A dog also has ubnbelievable smelling ability. But as long as there are arabs there will be terrorism.
The solution to this problem is straightforward, and has been used by the Israelis for decades: detect the BOMBER, not the BOMB. It’s called predictive profiling, or behavioral profiling (which is NOT racial profiling).
Let them ban anyone with a terorist profile from flying then we will see the threat decline
You mean I gotta think twice these days before kicking someone in the behind?
The day this will improve is the day we get our collective heads out of someplace where the sun dont shine and actually PROFILE people who are terrorists. As far as I am concerned, they should pull every “yishmaeli” looking person or anyone associated with anyone “yishmaeli” and check all their orifices with whatever they need to. Enough of the hypocrisy of pulling 90 year old grannies out of the security lines.
Remember how we got started with taking our shoes off at the security check point. with this new threat, what are they going to have us do next?!
Its sad to see how these people will go to any degree of humiliating unhumane sick acts to destroy inoccent lives! these terrorists are sick people and besides sticking a bomb in their rectum they should stick their head in there as well!
Force feed every suspect a pound of Ex-Lax.
