Big-Zol currently has four stores in northern Israel, with Migdal Haemek making the fifth.
The synagogue will include a small ark and offer shoppers the opportunity to hold afternoon and evening prayers, thus maximizing the shopping experience.
The 21,500-sq. foot store cost NIS 10 million (about $2.7) to build and all products and suppliers are subject to strict scrutiny to ensure kosher laws.
Big-Zol is planning to open two more stores in northern Israel in the coming year.
B’H What a great idea, I wish we had that here, this way I would not have to waste time while my wife shleps me to the grocery.
They also have small clinics in their larger stores for minor medical needs, shots, etc. Having a shul is a great convenience and they will allow for both chassideshe and litvashe nusach.
The Rami Levi at Shar Binyamin has had one for several years.
Will the shuls remain open for shabbos and would there some way to pick up some essentials after davening and pay motzi shabbos (perhaps by using the technique used by some stores in Tel Aviv where you drop a color coded chip in a “puska” encoded with your name where each chip corresponds to the price level of the items you took home. Some rabbonim don’t like this system.
If they are looking for a name for the shul…. how about ‘Shaarei Mozon’ ……
