Wexler is set to address his political future in a press conference Wednesday morning, the Palm Beach Post on Politics said Tuesday evening, and may be up for a position within the Obama administration.

The Florida liberal was elected to Congress in 1996, and serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

A call seeking clarification on to Wexler’s office Tuesday afternoon on the lawmaker’s plans was not returned.

At least one potential candidate, state Sen. Jeremy Ring (D), has signaled he would run in a special election for Wexler’s seat should the congressman resign.

Wexler is linked to J Street, an “advocacy group” that supports a Palestinian State that includes “Arab neighborhoods” of Jerusalem, returning the Golan Heights to Syria, and opposes Israeli settlements in the “occupied territories. We can only guess what his “policy job” will be.

Whatever his associations, he was still VERY pro-Israel.

Not pro-Israel. Pro-Obama. He was an apologist throughout the campaign. I’m afraid he’s going to transition from a mere embarrassment to a danger.

From one of his constituents, Wexler was one of the most consistent left winger pro Obama congressmen. He was one of the first to jump on the bandwagon. Last year he was finally nailed for not even living in the district. Finally, he’s gone. Good bye.

He is not pro-Israel at all, look at his record, it’s very clear. Nonetheless he was very effective at getting Jewish support using the ‘anti-Semite’ card year after year. His entire repertoire is based on demagoguery and slander, there’s nothing positive at all. It sold well in a district that doesn’t even know how to punch a voting ballot.

It’s too bad Robert Wexler left the political arena — he might be the only Dem with enough charisma to take on the Sarah Palin / Fox News cabal. But he has to not make image mistakes.
