According to The Journal News the newly formed Rockland Coalition to Oppose the Slaughterhouse plans to hold the rally at 1 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Rovitz Place and Route 45.
The site is in New Hempstead, directly across the street from a piece of land in New Square where village officials have proposed building a kosher chicken slaughterhouse and processing plant.
I hope these people will protest the obvious discrimination that will surely occur in the proposed New Square plant. They plan on making 2 production lines. One for male chickens and another for female chickens. And they won’t buy chickens from a farmer unless his wife covers her hair. They are close to signing a contract with an Amish family.
is the opposition concerned about the Chikens, tax monies or plain Anti Semitism?
Why is a none-Jewish chicken slaughterhouse allowed in Williamsburg on Gerry Street in a residential neighborhood and a Jewish chicken slaughterhouse in Rockland County should not allowed?
Would you let them built a nightclub across from the shul? You protested the Wallmart.
These are normal people, yiddin and goyim, who don’t want a schlachthois in a residential neighborhood. You can scream anti-semitism all you want but you’d be crazy not to oppose such a facility if it was going up in close proximity to your home.
This group is an off shoot of the anti-Chariedi group “Preserve Ramapo”. Just G00GLE the streets Route 45 and Rovitz Place, and see what this “neighborhood” looks like. Its nothing but trees and roads. These people just want to make the Frum people of Rockland County, as much heart ache as possible.
Let them recapture the waste and process it into fertilizer. Even the beis ha mikdash did that, and sold the waste products to the gardeners (mishna maseches yoma). Very “green” initiative.
Ask the people in the Village of KJ building a slaughter house in a residential neighborhood is selfish and mean. Anybody from KJ please comment.
can anyone post the real facts???
how close are the nearest houses ???
size of the site & size of the building?
is it really residential or a hick road like the catskills??
We have a lot of slaughterhouses in the Bronx, and plenty of industrially zoned land that can be obtained at low cost. Please build the slaughterhouse here.
(And you can pick up a dying or closed synagogue while you are at it along with enough homes nearby to build a community.)
Rabbi Swift in Pittsburgh was always against demonstrations on Shabbos. No matter what the reason.
It is actualy a hick road coming off the route 45 like in the catskills and there is currently a slaughterhouse at that exact location, the money will be used to modernize the plant with newer equipment so that they should be able to prosses more chickens in the same time. That’s all. It’s just Preserve Ramapo again…!
Maybe they are doing it on Saturday because that is when they are off of work and are available to protest. Maybe they are doing it then because they know the plant will be closed so there will be no confrontations. Don’t always think the worst.
As soon u drive in to KJ by Bakertown Road you will understand them
I know one thing New Square make headlines every day and that’s a major chiLol hashem and its time for them to come up with something to stop IT .
Every towm or village that wants to create jobs and tax revenue needs areas where industry can be build. Go to gloucester MA or New Bedford MA you will see that they have build smelling fish processing plants on the edge of their town same in KJ. But they smell the money these little industries create and they make it work. All over the USA you have small industrial areas on the outskirts of town and yes every town has people who are after their own interests and fight these industrial zones because they are too small minded to see the potential huge profits that towns reap from it incl jobs tax income etc.
i dont think they will chicken out.
KJ’ slaughterhouse is in a industrial neighborhood.
I am frum and a resident of New Hempstead in the vicinity of New Square. My “changing” neighborhood is no longer liveable for my family and I. My driveway has been blocked by my new neighbors’ cars, my lawn parked on, my children chided with insults from grown men, and me nearly killed while walking by a pre-shabbos lunatic driver. All this and I remain silent because I will not fight against another Jew. So my house is for sale. I really do not want to move but I have no choice. In my opinion, this is not anti-semitism or self-hatred, it is intentional harassment by a select few. Sad to say, I am sometimes embarassed to wear my yamulke. Luke
Nu, so the chickens have come home to roost.
will the price of chicken in skver go down now and will they be able to provide more
as of now there is only one butcher shop in skver and the price of chicken is much higher then most
