Gordon, NB – The city of Gordon is trying to sell the local kosher slaughterhouse that closed because of the financial difficulties of its owner, Agriprocessors, Inc.

City manager Fred Hlava (huh-LAVA) said Wednesday that he’s talked to several parties — some interested in restarting a kosher operation and others who would employ conventional processes.
The city joined with First Bank Business Capital Inc. to buy the Local Pride plant for $300,000 during last week’s bankruptcy auction.
Agriprocessors filed bankruptcy in November 2008, following immigration raids at its Postville, Iowa, plant.
Hlava says Gordon has a lien on the land because Agriprocessors didn’t meet terms of a state economic development grant, and the bank has a lien on the plant’s equipment.
The more I read the more I am convinced that Agriprocessors was nothing more than a fraud, it seems the ripped off the banks, cities, creditors, and their employees, the right thing to is plead guilty and do the time.
You have much Chutzpah. I am sure that you would not like to be judged like you are judging them. You have no knowledge of any abuse. I was in the plant many times. No one was abused. This is all media hype.

Of the 29 plants that were raided for illegal immigrants numbering as many or more than Agriprocessors, 28 of them were charged civilly and fined. Only one was charged with jail time. Guess which?
