Queens, NY – A shocking video shows a man trying in vain to fend off two thugs who repeatedly punch and stomp him on a deserted Queens street.

Jack Price, 49, tries again and again to get to his feet and escape, only to have the cowards knock him back down in their brutal onslaught, the footage shows.
Two men have been arrested in the beatdown.
Daniel Aleman, 26, was nabbed Sunday night, and Daniel Rodriguez, 21, was captured Tuesday night in Norfolk, Va., police said.
The attackers walk away from Price at one point, only to return. One of them slugs Price one last time in the face before they leave for good, the video shows.
Price, somehow, manages to get to his feet and stumble off after last Thursday’s 4:30 a.m. attack.
Late Tuesday, however, he remained in critical condition at New York Hospital Queens, hooked up to a respirator. His lungs are collapsed and his jaw and ribs are broken.
“It’s a despicable crime,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said of the assault in College Point, where the victim and his alleged attackers all live.
“The individual was attacked simply for being gay, and we’re just not going to tolerate it in this city.”
The video is from one of several surveillance cameras installed in the area by the College Point Board of Trade to deter graffiti.

Ribbono shel olam– we read and hear about atrocities and murders and genocides and of course the Holocaust on a daily basis, but it’s when we see something like this that we see and experience real, vicious horror firsthand. Why, Hashem, if an ordinary human being can look at something like this and cry inside, why don’t You, the Omnipotent Mastrer of the Universe, stop this as it happens? How can G-d look down day after day, year after year, century after century, and not intervene in all this suffering — all the brutal attacks, the rapes, tortures, the millions of innocent human beings, on and on and on. The world is a slaughterhouse, and if I think about it too much I feel my emunah start to slip away.
The next time one of the sick posters who rant about “gays” and in opposition tohate crime legislation should remember this hideous beating on the video. Halacha does not in any way support, encourage or tolerate such behavior against yiddin or goyim.

This is exactly why New York City citizens need to stand up for their rights to carry weapons. He would not be in a coma now if he were allowed to practice his second amendment RIGHT.

Attacking GLBTQ people will be a FEDERAL FELONY CRIME under civil rights act very soon. The bill is in Congress and will be passed. And the people that will want to attack others based on orientation will be tried in Federal Courts where conviction rates and sentencing is statistically high.
One of the attackers sounds like he has a jewish name.
Why does Hashem allow this? The Almighty allows us great freedom in this life. Some choose to be good. Some choose to be evil. These two men took the path of cruelty, viciousness and hatred. Let us hope they change their ways before it is too late. I will be praying for the victim’s swift and complete recovery.
As for the poster who said that “guns are more likely to kill you or a loved one”, you have been misinformed. I did graduate work on the whole guns and self defense thing. You’re misremembering Kellerman’s study. Even scholars who dislike guns have had to admit that his research failed to meet even the minimum standards of honest work. He cherry-picked his data. He didn’t make his data sets available to other researchers. He admitted that he disregarded anything which contradicted his conclusions. He considered any acquaintance to be a “loved one”. And he didn’t consider self defense successful unless the defender killed the assailant.
If you take a hard look it goes more like this…
Of those killed with guns, more than half were suicides. Our suicide rate is in line with that of other industrialized countries. In fact, it’s lower than many including ones like Japan which severely restrict access to firearms. Of the homicides, over three quarters were either criminals killing criminals in the course of other illegal activities and domestic violence cases where the police had been called more than once in the previous six months. In other words, both point to serious failures in the criminal justice system. Almost all homicides are committed by people who have met one another. It’s very rare for someone to have the motivation to kill a stranger. That doesn’t mean they are “loved ones”.
Accidental deaths involving firearms are very, very uncommon, on the order of dying by getting struck by lightning. Swimming pools and cigarette lighters are statistically much more dangerous. The death rate per capita from firearms has been falling since we first started collecting statistics more than a century ago, at a time when households were more likely to contain firearms and gun safes were rare.
Reasonable people believe that self defense has been successful if the criminal leaves without committing a crime. It is not necessary to shoot let alone kill anyone. Shots are fired in less than 5% of defensive gun uses. When they are fired the odds against someone dying are very high. In other words, the criminal usually takes a look at the wrong end of the weapon and decides that whatever he wanted from an unarmed, helpless victim is suddenly not worth getting shot over. And he decides he has pressing business elsewhere.
