Eliyahu Ezagui conned Crown Heights families into believing that he was creating an exclusive Jewish community in two East New York buildings, at 770 Lefferts Ave. and 613 East New York Ave., prosecutors charge.

But after the families paid for the apartments and moved in, Ezagui, his wife, his parents and two business partners remortgaged the properties with five different banks by keeping a hold of the deeds, according to the indictments.

one of the problem of the whole mosser issue is, that people like this victimizes Jews because they feel no one will tell the authorities, and they will get away with their crimes.

Get away with it? What a goyishe attitude. Halevai (for them) they should get caught and clean it up in this world and be spared dinei shomayim (like the Gemora in sanhedrin says regarding misos beis din.) nobody is getting away with anything. There is a and ayin sheroeh and an Ozen hashomas vchu’
Alternatively, REAL teshuva which is not easy to accomplish can clean things up. Also not getting away with anything-in a geneiva compensation to the victims is part of the teshuva.

The story is not so simple. Just to label him as a scammer is wrong.

I pray that they get the EMES because I never thought he was honest, but I have heard people say that some of the owners of the condos never paid him and then left, so theres more to the story. he doesnt have to have a good reputation, we just need the truth in this

This is no case of mosser. This guy went to banks and mortgaged the condo units he sold. He actually kept the deeds at the closing so the buyers never actually had the title to the condo unit. The banks never knew the units were sold. When the banks learned of the fraud, they filed charges. This is a sad criminal case. This actually is real crime. Sad. Then he fled to Miami Beach so they couldn’t find him. What a disaster.

I bought from him, I paid him cash like everyone else for 60 percent of the value of the house.

We all knew the deal, he would let us move in while he still owned it and too moeny out to support the subsidies he gave us all.

Otherwise I couldn’t buy nor could anyone else.

Its a shame of what happened that it all crashed and the banks took away his mortgages when people wrongly complainant to the banks when the deal was schlepping because he was underfunded.

Never did he defraud me or anyone else.

They just had buyers remorse and wanted out of the deal. Then it came crashing down. They all lost.

Now, they might even be exposed in court for the cash payments when many are on food stamps etc.

    What a shame.

Sad to see where the jewish people have come to. Its only 60 years since they wanted us all dead.

Will the major Jewish organizations be creating a legal defense fund and making press conferences in his support? Is that adoration reserved for privileged members?

Eliyahu Ezagui should be given a chance to say his side of the story, every story has two sides and sometimes a third side.

The whole concept of “mosser” has been taken out of context and used to protect child molestors, frauds, scammers and crooks. If it wasn’t for informants, we would never be able to rid the yiddeshe community of these low-lifes who prey on the trust that we mistakenly give to any who “looks heimeshe”, has assumed the title of rav or rebbe or otherwise seems to be an ehrlehce yid. While guys like Dwek et. al. are not tzadikim, they don’t deserve to be labled as a moser in the same context as someone who exposed other jews to the Nazis etc.
