Gary Louisa, who died last year of cancer at age 51, had hidden Ground Zero dust, a piece of a steel beam and bone fragments under the ragged driver’s seat of his 1989 Ford Econoline van, cops said.

The city medical examiner determined Monday that the bone chips were not human, but more tests were being done on a ziplock bag full of dust.

Louisa’s gray van had been parked in the driveway of his ex-girlfriend’s Bath Beach home for the past seven years.

The ex-girlfriend, Rosa Cerrato, 60, discovered the creepy keepsakes when she started cleaning out the van so it could be donated to charity.

Cerrato said the souvenirs were found in separate ziplock bags inside a larger bag Louisa had marked “World Trade Center.”

Louisa, who died at Lutheran Hospital on Feb. 5, 2009, believed he had contracted cancer while volunteering to search for bodies at Ground Zero, Cerrato said.

Cerrato said Louisa called her from his deathbed on Christmas 2008 and warned her about the bag of Ground Zero dust he had stored in his van.

“He said if you go in the truck, be careful. ‘Don’t breathe in,'” Cerrato said last night. “He didn’t want anyone to be exposed. He said he had a bag of dust from the World Trade Center. He thought it contaminated the whole truck.”

After finding Louisa’s stash, Cerrato called the cops.

Detectives and medical examiner workers searched the van thoroughly Monday and took possession of relics for testing.

“He never said anything about the bones. We thought they looked human, but broken,” Cerrato said.

When told the bones were not human, Cerrato exclaimed, “Thank God it’s not somebody’s relative.”

What a weird collection. But there is no doubt that Mr. Louisa contracted cancer while working at Ground Zero. Even though the Federal EPA, at the time (after 9/11) assured everyone that the area is safe, the smell of burned human remains permeated the air. Yet we have some vicious fools who already are denying that the towers were brought down by muslim terrorists and are coming up with all kinds of zany theories about the US Government hiding explosives inside the buildings. They are in the same league as the Holocaust deniers. No amount of reasoning or evidence will help sway them. They have their minds made up. That is why the campaign against the deniers of both tragedies needs to go on in full force. Additionally, we have a Politically-Correct Mayor, who plays dumb when he rhapsodizes about the right of the mosque to built at Ground Zero.
