New York, NY – As part of his last visit to the US as Chief of Staff of the IDF, Lt. Gen Gabi Ashkenazi met with Dr. Henry Kissinger, former US Secretary of State and the first Jew to have held the position.

Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, met with Dr. Henry Kissinger during a breakfast meeting held at the latter’s home in New York on Friday (Nov. 19). Kissinger, an American diplomat and the first Jew to serve as US Secretary of State, met with Chief of Staff to discuss the situation in the Middle East.
Lt. Gen. Ashkenazi is scheduled to conduct a series of work meetings with various government, defense and military officials, regarding mutual defense challenges, cooperation between the militaries and security assessments of the Middle East.
As part of the series of meetings, Lt. Gen. Ashkenazi already met with CJCS Admiral Michael G. Mullen. The Chief of Staff has so far met with Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Dr. Michele Flournoy, Chairman of House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Howard Berman, Senators John Carey and Joe Liberman and others.
At the end of the visit, the Chief of Staff will meet with Israel advocacy organizations, heads of the Conference of Presidents and other senior officials in New York. In addition, Lt. Gen. will dedicate time to briefing sessions with heads of US and Canadian media outlets.
