i know the family very well and the whole story about their daughter and its an unheard of thing to put the parents in jail for trying to keep their kid frum

Everybody in london knows these people are innocent. I don’t understand why there isn’t any protest especially on the reshanta in bnei brak that massered on them.

To all those well-meaning protestors who claim to have “known” the couple: apparently none of you knew everything.

I know the parents and the girl very well. There is really so much more to the story that cannot be explained without you knowing them and all the facts of the story. One thing is for sure; this has NOTHING to do with the girl’s frumkeit.

Obviously what they did was not within the law and I am not condoning their actions. I just believe that it was done out of love and concern for their daughter. Again I am not saying that they were right but I am just asking all of you to imagine what you would do for your child when you believe that they need you.

With that thought in mind, please think about their situation and comment with sensitivity!

I have heard of taking someone from Bucharest to Bnei Brak to get them to be frum. This is the first time I have heard of kidnapping someone from Bnei Brak to Bucharest to get them to be frum. I reminds me of a case where someone got a 33 year sentence for transporting his daughter over international lines.

If you allow this case, then anyone can kidnap anyone else and say it was for their own good. If the person is not well mentally then you can go through the correct channels and try that.

I’m sorry, you can’t kidnap people because you believe your religious views are right. What makes this case worse than an ordinary kidnapping case (e.g., for profit) is that the perpetrators honestly think they are justified. What if another looney decided one day that he had identified an Amakelite, and was compelled by the positive precept to kill him?

As a ticket of entry (social contract) to modern society, we accept that דינא דמלכותא דינא. We SUBORDINATE our religious imperatives and indeed our natural law rights (e.g., lex talionis) to the rules of public order of the modern political state. Of course we ask to be accommodated when there’s a conflict. And in limited cases, we might even exercise civil disobedience when a law is patently unjust or discriminatory.

These vile lawbreakers should receive a maximalist punishment to set an example to others who think they can resort to kidnapping and coercion to propagate their views.

I believe they wanted their daughter back to get the British state benefits.
