Washington – Democratic congressman Dennis Kucinich of Ohio has sued a congressional cafeteria for dental damage he says he suffered after biting into an olive pit in a sandwich wrap he bought there.

Kucinich’s attorney, Andrew Young, declined to comment Wednesday on the lawsuit seeking $150,000 in damages from companies involved with the Longworth House Office Building cafeteria.
The suit says the wrap “contained dangerous substances, namely an olive pit” that a consumer would not reasonably expect to find in the product served. The suit says that Kucinich suffered “serious and permanent” dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures.
Kucinich’s lawsuit says the Ohio Democrat bought the sandwich on or about April 17, 2008
And while he’s at it, he should sue the place where he gets his toupee.
The pit must have fallen in when they were cleaning for Pesach.
I guess he won’t be voting for torte reform anytime soon…
I guess the senator must be feeling the financial crunch like the rest of us.
If the guy suffered this much damage from an olive pit, its time to retire, seems his jaws are as fragile as a mummy, thank god the olive pit wasnt on the floor… also i believe that he has good dental insurance.
He fails to mention that the House Cafeteria is a perk that the tax payers fund so that the fat cat congressmen can stuff their faces with $1 sandwiches. I also don’t get the point of the lawsuit. The tax payer already covers his salary, stipend, healthcare and retirement. So now he is suing that same taxpayer to pay his health bills and lost salary?
In fact, Rep. Kucinich’s district will be redrawn by the Republicans who have taken control of the House. I hope that as a result, he will be out of office, as he is no friend of Yidden.
I think he should win a jar of olives
I can identify with his suffering. Many years ago I had a similar experience while eating olives from a salad bar. There was some pain and a large dental bill to repair a cracked tooth. I knew the restaurant owner well and didn’t file a claim…just took my losses and moved on.
If he knew the sandwich had olives in it, he should have been more careful. Same way u need to be careful with bones in fish.
If no olives in sandwich, then thats a different story
