The trial resumed Thursday after doctors determined that Kepiro is healthy enough to take part in the case where he is charged by prosecutors with taking part in January 1942 raids by Hungarian forces in the northern Serbian town of Novi Sad, in which around 1,200 civilians were killed. The hearing was adjourned earlier this month amid concerns over the former police captain’s ability to comprehend court proceedings.

Due to his age, the hard-of-hearing Kepiro can participate for only two 45-minute sessions before becoming tired, according to a statement from Budapest Municipal Court.

Kepiro is accused of leading an armed police unit that took part in January 1942 in the slaughter of mainly Serbian and Jewish civilians in what is now northern Serbia.

Over 1,000 were killed in the Novi Sad massacre, part of a series of reprisal killings.

Why does it seem like so many of these Nazi monsters live to a ripe old age? Maybe they are getting their “rewards” now in preparation for Gehennom later? I like to think so.

At least he will not spend his last days in peace. A very small consolation.
