The Emanuel family–wife Amy and three children–remained here to finish the 2011 school year–after Emanuel returned to Chicago in 2010 to run for mayor.
Ilana’s bat mitzvah comes a little over a year after the Emanuel family traveled to Israel in May, 2010, to celebrate the bar mitzvah of his son, Zach, and a nephew.
Mazal Tov, Rahm. May Ilana grow up to be an Eishet Chayil.
Is she getting maftir too?
So with which minyan does Zach put on tefilin every day?

Mazel tov. The family have been regulars at a shul in D.C. since they came to D.C. with Obama. They keep a low profile and try to avoid the spotlight. Whatever you think of his politics, the family has always kept their kids involved in yiddeshkeit, albeit perhaps not to the liking of some on this board who don’t believe that a “conservative” shul is any better than a church.
I davvend once in that shul with a senetor its a very nice place, not a big mechitzah, but still, its ok.
