Queens, NY – The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force has arrested a man suspected of spray-painting swastikas on houses of worship and libraries that have roiled northwestern Queens since last week.

A Jackson Heights man has been charged with four counts of criminal mischief as a hate crime for allegedly painting the hated Nazi symbol on two area libraries, a synagogue and a church.
The suspect is Franco Rodriguez, 40, of 86th Street.
He is charged with spray painting swastikas on the Jackson Heights Library, he also painted a swastika on the front of Temple Tifereth Israel; on the front door of St. Joan of Arc Church; and on the front and side of the East Elmhurst Library.
The incidents were investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force. They prompted widespread condemnation from Queens public officials, as well as students from Rambam Mesivta.
