Judea and Samaria police say at least four complaints have been lodged against the suspect in recent days, though some of the alleged offenses took place months ago.

The most recent alleged incident took place on Sunday, police said. The suspect allegedly shouted verbal abuse at non-Haredi women. He is being questioned.

The arrest is part of increased enforcement by police against extremist conduct targeting women, and comes on the back of police intervention in other flash points, including buses in Jerusalem and Bet Shemesh.

Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharnovitch has encouraged members of the public to complain over attempts to exclude women in the public sphere, and over verbal assaults.

Unfortunately this sick behavior is getting out of hand. Why are these self made orthodox Jews even looking at women. If they’re holier than thou they should mind their own business and not be busy looking at women. Obviously they have other unpure intentions which in turn shows us of what derogatory form they really are. All for their pleasure sake. Sick! Silo!

Why would any rational charedi person open his mouth at this point… either you are looking for trouble or you are just plain irrational. And if you can’t keep your mouth shut for a month or so until this all blows over, you have a pathological problem that may require professional help.

Wake up! Wake up! Before it is too late.

It is time to deport the Haredim to Williamsburgh, Kiryat Yoel, New Square, and Antwerp.

This extremist is most likely a sikrik and is not representative at all of the charedi community.
There are about a half-million charedim in Israel.
Note to self-haters: Comparing him to all charedim won’t work.

Zos Torah? This is absolutely, positively, fundamentally no different than the Taliban. From a psychological point of view, men who are obsessed with women’s modesty tend to be hiding/struggling with deep issues of their own. In the name of “righteousness”, they try to compensate for their own inner demons. Very sad.

I know of a case which occurred years ago in EY, whereby a Lubavitch family were walking in the street with their 18 month old toddler girl. She was wearing a dress which some individual thought was too immodest for an 18 month old. What did that individual do? He threw a rock at them! Now, does that behavior qualify as being mentchlikeit? It is about time that the Israeli Police are finally taking these complaints seriously, and prosecuting the extremists!

By now, these verbal attacks are just being carried out for pure attention.
It’s so sad how they think they’ll be heroes this way.
    They just love the action.

I’m not sure what people here dont get, when you are on a bus in close setting of the sexes, there IS touching – albeit hopefully unintentional – that goes on. This is a fact. If a man is sitting on a bus next to women, I guarantee you it happens and IT IS A PROBLEM! If a man is standing on a bus next to women, I guarantee you it happens and IT IS A PROBLEM! For those who say it doesnt happen has their heads in the ground. If you are not affected by it, you are either not a women or not a man v’ha’mayvin yovin!

blaming the hareidi behaviour on the media or on the action of the non orthodox just doesnt cut it. As orthodox jews we need to try even harder to rise above this and be even more careful to always make a kiddush Hashem whenever possible

Why can’t people exercise a little common sense and courtesy? If you are going into an area where you would offend sensibilites, why can’t you cover up? If you were going to the opera, wouldn’t you dress appropriately?

Verbal abuse by charedi is an offence to be arrested for; but secular spitting on charedi is not an offence.

These ultra-radicals are causing enormous damage to our community. They must be stopped. As noted above, no less than Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach ztl did not get up or protest when a woman sat down, next to him, on a public bus. Instead, he waited until the next stop, then got off. (This was not his stop.) Furthermore, he participated in a mixed-seating fundraising dinner.

    from ynet news

Shlomo Fuchs, a haredi man indicted for sexually harassing a female IDF soldier on a Jerusalem bus, told Ynet that the young woman intervened in an argument between him and another woman. He said that her interference was uncalled for.

Fuchs said that the soldier acted provocatively: “She stood amidst the ultra-Orthodox men. It’s the most basic concenpt: A woman should not stand amidst men, just like no woman would go into a man’s bathroom. So I called her a slut.” (Aviad Glickman)

    that explains it

Someone should remind these people that when Yaakov Avinu saw Rachel Imenu, he kissed her, he didn’t smack or spit.

“She protects me? I sit at shul from eight in the morning till midnight and study, and she’s protecting me? I protect her,” the ultra-Orthodox man told Ynet.

what chuzpha please when the arabs come to you or anybody to harm you i hope you refuse help from the people you claim do not protect you and just take out a sefer and learn I am sure that will stop your attackers

I absolutely condemn the “holier than though” madmen that are causing such a chilul hashem in israel, but what diisturbs me more is how come all the abuse the chareidim suffer each and every day from the chillunim, never get any attention from the police, media etc and believe me its very often!

ViN should delete post #4 above!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#4 wote: “It is time to deport the Haredim to Williamsburgh, Kiryat Yoel, New Square, and Antwerp.”

ViN should delete post #4 above — its author is using anti-Semitic, neo-Nazi terms to incite ethnic cleansing of orthodox. This is disgraceful and should be deleted.

We all get it. Hareidi men are being taught to avoid temptation at any cost rather than how to control their urges in the first place. This isn’t working. Instead of looking the other way – as NORMAL people usually do when confronted with unpleasant or uncomfortable situations in public; they are attacking women and children.

In the eyes of the Gentile world, Hareidim are now seen as degenerate creeps, not as pious scholars. There are enough people attacking Jews around the world, we don’t need Jews fighting Jews over such matters. Better to teach these Hareidi men self control and derech eretz, than train them to be the tznius police on the streets and buses of Eretz Yisrael.
