“Our Place is about saving our children and saving us as well,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind told VIN News. “The work that they do is absolutely incredible and each of us has an obligation to do our part to make sure that the doors at Our Place continue to stay open.”
Raise the Steaks II follows on the heels of last summer’s very successful fundraiser which attracted a crowd of close to four hundred people. This year’s extravaganza, which will take place on Wednesday at Brooklyn’s T Fusion Steakhouse.
The evening will feature entertainment by world famous magician Henry Carlyle, mentalist and illusionist David Blatt and another display of unique cars.
“Not only will guests have the opportunity to show their support for Our Place and to enjoy a fun upscale event, but from a business perspective it will be a great opportunity to network with some of the most influential business leaders in the Jewish community,” said Jonathan Rhodes of Our Place.
Director of Operations Zvi Gluck, expressed his appreciation to the many supporters who have helped Our Place stay afloat despite budget cuts that nearly caused the institution to close its doors.
“A year ago this time we were facing extinction,” said Gluck. “Over the past year, we have touched lives, saved lives and unfortunately, have had to bury some of our own as well. It is events like this, with sponsors including VIN News that keep us in operation, but we still need the help of the community just to stay alive.”
According to Gluck, Our Place’s yeshiva, Yeshiva Simchas Hachaim, has just finished its second year with an enrollment of fifteen and Our Place hopes to launch new programs in the next six months which will educate parents and kids in preventive measures which will give them the ability to resolve problems before they turn into serious issues.
“Our Place is several pieces of the puzzle and the first step in giving our youth at risk the ability to be able to live a constructive life,” said Chaim Deustch, founder of Flatbush Shomrim.”
Raise The Steaks II will begin at 6:30 PM at 3223 Quentin Road.
