The Journal News writes that Emilia White of Spring Valley, who was videotaping the proceedings, was nearly arrested for refusing to record in the designated area in the back of the meeting room. White and her husband, Steve, are among the 200 hundred plaintiffs who filed a class-action lawsuit in early August against School Board President Daniel Schwartz and other board members for violating the constitutional rights of Hispanic and black students since 2008 when their public school funding was reduced in favor of white, Jewish students attending religious private schools.

Emilia White contends her camera was not disruptive to anyone, and rejected Schwartz’s constant requests to move to the back of the room so as not to bother others attending the meeting. “In the back of the room to me means the back of the bus,” she said. “When you’re ready to arrest me, just drag me out,” White added.

While Ramapo Police tried to de-escalate the situation, the board members adjourned to an executive session and rejoined the school board meeting some two hours later at 11p.m. White was permitted to continue videotaping from her earlier location without any opposition, and no arrests were made.

The school board voted on a number of items, including eliminating the school district as a plaintiff in the class-action suit. The school board found that Advocates for Justice, a public interest law firm representing the plaintiffs, had “improperly attempted to institute legal proceedings in the school district’s name” without consent from the school board.

ech, how does one respond to this. A baby shakes there rattle hard enough and cries loud enough, they get their baba.

This whole self entitled race card thing is getting really annoying. and she brought a camera, seriously? what did she expect was going to happen. She is clearly a yenta and trouble maker.

The chiul hashem continues. All this hatred to save a few dollars a year in taxes. I have said it before and I will say it again. We have no business running a school board. We don’t send our children to the schools and should not be the ones making the tough decisions. I agree that the teacher unions are pigs and that there is a ton of waste in the schools however the hatred we are generating is not worth it no matter the cost saving.

She brought her camera to the proceedings. there is ONE designated area for camera recording, which is in the back of the room. This rule applies to everyone who wants to record the session, not just ‘Ms. White’. so, her comment about it being like ‘going to the back of the bus’ is quite unreasonable. Grow up lady! not everything is about race!!!

I know this emilia personally from meetings. She is nothing but a Je hater, marreid to another Jew hater who loves to stir up trouble for our community. She calls the radio and spews her hate onto the airwaves as well. As someone invovled in the district, I can tell you that she doesnt miss a chance (nor does her husband, Steve White, the journal news antisemite reporter) to slander and embarrass the community for any reason whenever she or he can. We need to watch out for people like this. they are out to get us and if the school board was not mostly frum, she would find another way. The fact is, we do have the right in this district, since we are the majority, to have a full voice in how it is run. We cannot allow those who hate us to intimidate us with these ‘games’. If she didn’t do it this way, she and her husband would find another way. It’s time that all these people (most of them non tax paying)realize that it is OUR kids who qualify the district for the programs, services, etc, and WE who are paying the taxes that keep E. ramapo running..and they refuse to accept this. Yes, we are in galus but that doesnt mean we cannot stand up for our rights!
