Santa Monica, CA – The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has cancelled its plans to protest Sunday outside the Hotel Shangri-La after Tehmina Adaya, the hotel’s co-owner, said she does not condone anti-Semitism and will contribute to Jewish and Israeli initiatives.

The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/Qg6jfY) writes that Pakistani-Muslim Adaya plans to donate $3,600 a piece to the Koby Mandell Foundation, which helps families who have lost loved ones to terrorism, and will also contribute to the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organizations, which provides support to disabled Israeli veterans. Additionally, Adaya will coordinate and host a private event in conjunction with the ZOA for Jewish and Israeli leaders at the Shangri-La.
In a statement issued this past Friday, Adaya said, “I care deeply about the hurt, anger and misunderstanding that has resulted, and I want the Jewish and pro-Israel community to know I condemn anti-Semitism.”
A Los Angeles County Superior Court found Adaya guilty of civil rights violations against Jews on August 15 and ordered her to pay $1.6 million in damages.

THIS IS ALREADY A SHAKEDOWN
It may be a more subtle form of a shakedown but it’s a shakedown never the less. It’s no different than what Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do. Find a target to protest against and then call off the protest after the subject “donated” to the “cause”. The owner of the hotel doesn’t feel sorry for what she did. She vigorously defended her case in court. But now that she lost, she would rather pay the blackmailers than have protesters in front of her fancy hotel cause her to lose business. The ZOA should be ashamed of itself.
