On Monday, Romanian officials scrambled to defend two plants implicated in the scandal, saying the meat was properly declared and any fraud was committed elsewhere. The Jewish Chronicle (http://bit.ly/XPu6DB) is reporting that the surge in demand for kosher meats is ‘the best thing’ to happen to the industry in years, according to an industry spokesperson.

Manchester Beth Din administrator, Rabbi Yehuda Brodie, said people are now realizing why kosher food production methods have always been the ‘gold standard.’

“in many countries there’s strong evidence that non-Jewish people buy kosher meat because of the integrity and the close monitoring,” said Brodie.

Elaine Mann, of north-west London’s Louis Mann and Sons butchers in Edgware, said, People always say kosher meat is expensive, but now you know why.”

Meanwhile, British police say three men have been arrested by officers investigating the burgeoning horsemeat scandal in Europe.

Police in Wales said Thursday’s arrests on suspicion of fraud offenses occurred at two plants that were inspected earlier this week by the U.K.’s Food Standards Agency.

Police said two men — ages 64 and 42 — were arrested Farmbox Meats near Aberystwyth, in Wales, while a 63-year-old man was arrested at the Peter Boddy Slaughterhouse in Todmorden, West Yorkshire.

The arrests come after Britain’s food regulator said six horse carcasses that tested positive for an equine painkiller may have entered the human food chain in France and that horsemeat tainted with the medicine may have been sold to consumers “for some time.”

Its nice to see the kosher butchers getting business, but I’m wondering why there’s no rush for halal meat. Muslims don’t eat horsemeat either, I thought.

There was at least one very famous case of horse meat being sold by a kosher restaurant years ago as well.

In the previous story on VIN “Dublin – Suppliers, Grocers Turning To DNA Testing On Meat” which reported on horse meat found in burgers and DNA testing, I half-seriously remarked “If they bought only kosher meat, none of this would be necessary. …shelo osani goy.” So even when I am joking, I am right. Do you realize what this means? That I am always right!

In Brooklyn one sees deliveries of halal carcasses to local stores using unrefigerated rental trucks. Who knows what those trucks carried before. But these consumers of halal are coming from third world countries where there isd no food safety.

Who knows if maybe this is all a sign from above for the non-Jews not to mess with the schechita process, as they have been trying to legislate in various places.

Another reason is, because the whole story began that horse meat was mixed in a consignment of halal meat,

The details on Halal not reported here: It was also found that Halal meat was tested and found to contain % of ham.

Another thing to increase the sales of Kosher meat from Manchester – the current scandal in London – read last weeks JC.

I have been saying this for the longest time and I am hoarse (no pun intended) from saying it so many times; kosher meat is the way to go.

The kosher meat industry in the USA, receives a lost of support from gentiles, who prefer Kosher meat. They know that Kosher meat is much safer than non-Kosher meat, because of the stricter requirements.

The best solution is to stop eating meat!!! You will be healthier, and the animals will be healthier.
