JTA (http://bit.ly/1cQUHqf) reports that the sought after decision stems from a March incident in which a singular cow was slaughtered in the town of Tykocin.
The new Polish law, which went into effect as of January 1st, bans the slaughter of cows without stunning, which runs contrary to kosher requirements.
The initial ruling handed down said that the Tykocin slaughter was covered under a 1997 Act on the Relation of the State of the Jewish Communities which allows for slaughter to accommodate the “needs” of the Jewish community.
