The Times of Israel http://bit.ly/ICjpSw) reports that a global survey of 177 countries released Tuesday by Transparency International showed the findings that support the perception of a corrupt Israel.
Tansparency International’s annual Corruption Perceptions Index survey ranks more than four-fifths of countries in the Middle East below 50 out of 100, with zero being highly corrupt and 100 being very clean. The Corruption Perceptions Index surveys countries based on local and international experts’ opinions of public corruption.
Israel scored 61 out of 100, above the Middle Eastern average of 37 and the global average of 43.The figure placed Israel as the 36th-least corrupt country out of 177 by perception, but came in at 23rd-least corrupt among the 34 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development member countries.
The survey also found locals feel that political parties, civil servants and religious institutions are among the most corrupt groups in the country. Seventy-nine percent of respondents felt that political parties were either corrupt or extremely corrupt, 73 percent said religious organizations were corrupt, and 60 percent said public officials and civil servants were corrupt.
מדינת ישראל הוא
אור לגויים, או אור לערביים. זו הוא השאלה
This is just based on perceptions. Now what about reality?
הלכה: עשו שונא את יעקב
No big surprise. Israel is one big’s “boy’s club”. Without protectzia, you are NOTHING.
Can anybody be paid off to boost their ranking? Should be looked into.
I hope the Israeli gov will take this info and make some changes to be less corrupt in the future.
Eventhough these are perceptions, it still begs explanation as to why this is found to Israel more than some other Western democracies, and just to point out a few facts that may be news to my fellow readers
How many countries do you know have approx five companies that control a large percentage of food industry and transport, how many other countries do you know still have the same old politicians in some sort of political capacity for years on end, how many other countries do you know have a transport company (Egged) which profit such an astronomical sum that they have turned to other transport projects in Eastern Europe to invest claiming that they “do not make very much revenue”, how many others do you know of have a special Police depo do beat up innocent people standing near a protest and then immune to prosecution-however this is all relative and I guess its all “perceived”.
