Ynetnews (http://bit.ly/Iu83AI) reports that about 400 haredim protested against the arrest. The protesters threw stones at police officers and burned trash cans. Police used water cannons to break up the rioters and all adjacent roads were closed off. The police were able to disperse the haredim. Two suspects were arrested for disorderly conduct. A Border Guard soldier sustained minor head injuries after being hit by a stone.

The 19-year-old student from Kiryat Malachi had decided to report to the military induction center for his first order but he has since disregarded all other summons. On Tuesday, he was tried and given 14 days in a military prison.

On Wednesday, hundreds of yeshiva students demonstrated outside of Prison 6 in northern Israel in a protest led by Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach, head of the Maalot Hatorah Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Rabbi Auerbach is widely known for his rejection of military service.

How come they are not in the bais hamedrash where they are supposed to be???
They have all the time in the world to demonstrate – obviously, learning is NOT a priority.

He disregarded the notices? So, for not answering his mail, he became the poster child for ‘hareidi’ stupidity. All he had to do was answer the summonns ans say he was a full time student.
His ‘rebbe’ should be in jail with him.

I completely agree that hareidi men should not be drafted, but ignoring the problem is even worse than the problem. I also was against the draft in Viet Nam, but I registered for the draft and did everything by the book. I was left alone because I complied with the law.

And which great chacham started throwing stones at the very people that will sacrifice their lives to protect us???????

The fifty per cent draftdogers from the secular israeli jews is kosher. The fact that arabs who get funded by the israeli secular government don’t get drafted. Their homes are built all over the place illegally but gush katif was evicted like stray dogs. No frum jew should join an army led by pork eaters who are bent on destroying our Torah. Time to organize protests here in new york.

You bunch of self hating tuna bagel airheads. Instead of supporting your brothers in israel with their fight for Torah, you write negative comments. These protesters are heros.

Again, why are so many ignorant and/or Reform Jews posting lies here? For example, comparing Chareidim and their protests to protests by some people of color in the US? Are you really thinking before you type?

The fact is that the Zionists neither need nor want the Chareidim in the IDF – except to shmad them.

The Zionists are increasing their already abominable shmad attempts of our chareidi brethren. This is absolutely unacceptable and obviously worthy of protest.

I’m sure the Chareidim take no pleasure in sitting in front of buses. So before you question the Chareidi protests, first understand the terrible damage the Zionists have done to them and continue to do to them.

Chanukah just ended. The reason for this yom tov is that Hashem helped us when the Yivanim attempted on our people “lihashkicham torasecha ulhaaviram meichukai retzonecha”.

This is the same overriding (yes, overriding – a state was not at all the overriding -) aim of Zionism. It always was and still is. Yet you complain about the protests against these modern-day Hellenists who are persecuting these people for wanting to remain Jews rather than to convert to Hebrew goyim like the Zionists?

This is the begining of the end of the state Israel. All frum jews are united in this fight against the secular hate filled israelis that don’t respect torah nor do they respect their own people. They won’t be able to exist as a nation if they will not live together peacefully.
