AFP (http://bit.ly/1cmGBfD) reports that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham continues to oppose the Jewish state’s presence and dismissed the offer for a meeting.

Afkham stated President Shimon Peres’s offer was only initiated to assist Israel out of “isolation” due to Israel’s opposition to the nuclear six-month deal settled with Iran last month.

Peres did not oppose a meeting with Rouhani when asked about the subject on Sunday, stating that the differences are a question of policies, not of personal nature.

The harsh statements should likely back up the skepticism Israel feels toward Western public views that President Rouhani’s government represents a new phase of relations with Iran.

Israel alleges that Iran has been working to develop nuclear bombs, allegations that the Iran denies.

Iran’s capital, Tehran, supports a wide range of anti-Israel terrorist groups committed to Israel’s demise, including Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah.
