Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the schools in Oneida and Rockland counties will be the first to launch the program, called Mutualink K-12.
The computer-based system is designed to enhance communications between schools and local authorities in the event of an emergency. It links school radios, phones and mobile devices to emergency dispatch systems and can allow school officials to instantly share video, audio or other data with law enforcement.
The system also involves a “panic button” feature which gives authorities quick access to school communications.
