But a group of rabbis are opposing the swap, and don’t want to force mohels to tell the parents of potential health risks associated with the practice stating it hinders religious freedom.
The NYC Dept of Helath has allged that the practice of metzizah b’peh has been associated with a higher risk of herpes. Four cases were reported last year of newborn Jewish boys with herpes, with a total of 17 since 2000.
Many rabbis have questioned the scientific evidence associated between the number of herpes cases of Jewish baby boys and the practice.
Rockland County health officials recently stated they have a deal with rabbis wherein if a baby is found to have contracted herpes, the county can test the mohel who performed the circumcision. If the mohel if found to be the reason for infection, he will be banned from performing the procedure for life.

Mr. Mayor – did you consult with Sharpton first?
Lighten up, bubii! It’s pretty clear that my joke was about the Mayor & Sharpton.
The mayor should have the judge get informed consent from the two “Partners” who are getting a gay marriage.
We should all take parenting lessons from comrade DeBlasio and his beautiful drug addict children
Reply to 2. I think 1 was referring to the fact that comrade DeBlasio calls Sharpton “the real deal” which is in agreement with almost nobody anywhere
