Three additional soldiers were wounded in the accident, which occurred shortly before 7 pm Saturday evening. The wounded soldiers, all members of the Paratroop Brigade, were airlifted to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva. One was listed in moderate condition, and two were reportedly to have sustained minor injuries.
The Army Spokesperson’s Unit said the accident occurred during a routine patrol of the border fence because the driver of the jeep was driving too fast for the road conditions. The driver veered off the road, but when he tried to get back onto the security road without coming to a complete stop the vehicle rolled several times.
The military also said that all the soldiers in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, but the belts were torn by the impact of the crash. The commander was thrown from the Hummer and flattened by the weight of the jeep. He was declared dead at the scene.
So young! Oy Hashem protect our heilike soldiers!
Not a Terrorist killed him. It’s the Hand of G-O-D who prohibited the Israeli military and forcing orthodox people to the Army.
#2 is very insensitive. May only Arabs see such suffering.
When I served, they wouldn’t let youngsters like him drive, because those vehicles are easy to flip. They would get older reservists (like me) to be their “soccer mom”s and drive them around. The presence of an older “outsider” also helped maintain decorum and good behavior.
