JERUSALEM (AP) – The office of Israel’s president says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been given the difficult task of forming a new government.

Wednesday’s decision came after President Reuven Rivlin’s attempts to broker a unity government between Netanyahu and his chief rival, Benny Gantz, failed.
Rivlin and Netanyahu were to give statements later Wednesday.
Netanyahu faces an uphill struggle. After a tight election, his Likud party, along with smaller allied parties, controls 55 seats, short of the required 61-seat majority in parliament.
His former ally, the Yisrael Beitenu party, refuses to sit in a government with Netanyahu’s ultra-religious partners. And dovish opposition parties are unlikely to back Netanyahu.
He now has up to six weeks to form a coalition. If he fails, Gantz will likely be given a chance.
If the parties involved will be guided by ahavas Yisroel we will be but sinas chinom and personaL aMBITION win Yidden will be introuble
if Bibi fails, Gantz will not make a government either.
Bibi needs 6 of the Blue/White party to SWITCH sides and he’s got it.
Bibi – go after individual members of Kneset
This is what Blue and White wanted. Let Bibi go first, as naturally he will fail, then B & W gets a chance. The country certainly does not want to go to a 3rd election and then strong pressure will be on Bibi to comprise. B & W will put compromises on their side public and if there is no gov’t and a 3rd election is forced, the backlash will be on Likud. This time the first to try is not in a good position.
All B & W has to do when they get the 2nd chance is give Bibi everything, EXCEPT being Prime Minister first, he will be under so much pressure to accept it all but not the PM and B & W will have got what they wanted. He will have nothing to fight the the corruption charges, and will then be forced to resign. B & W will figure out that the gov’t collapses in a year or two and with Bibi out of the way it will be a shoe in-for B & W.
Natanyahu is not in a great position!!
Well, that was a surprise. I am sure we all wish him well.
