MONSEY, NY (AP) – At a Hacnusas Sifer Torah celebration in Monsey on Sunday that was planned before the shooting, several members of the community stood guard armed with assault-style rifles.
They refused to give their names when approached by an Associated Press journalist, but they said they were there to defend their community.

I just wonder how much training these young boys have especially threat assessment. Probably very little. Not a very safe scenario.While I never leave me house or go to shul without my 357 S &W or Glock 40 Cal I have had 6 years in the US Army as a combat vet & 25 years of law enforcement. and yes I am shomer shabbos.

I’m pro gun and respect anyone coming to protect the community. That said, NYS has some very restrictive gun laws. I hope those carrying that level of weapon knows how to use them and have the legal/license status that will not get them into their own legal trouble. The gun license laws in NYS and NYS are designed to frustrate those looking to legally carry. Those criminals operating out of the laws apparently choose to do whatever they want. There are instances where police are out gunned till additional help comes. The leftist liberal run state is more often than not sympathetic to criminals than their victims.
